Manchester United and Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Kobel has attracted interest from England following another impressive season in the Bundesliga, with the Switzerland international having established himself as one of the division’s best number ones since signing for Dortmund from Stuttgart in 2021.
According to Sport1, United and Chelsea are ‘courting’ the 25-year-old as the Premier League duo assess their goalkeeping options this summer. The former are considering potential replacements for David de Gea, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Discussions have taken place over a new deal for the Spanish shot-stopper, but the Red Devils are keen to reduce De Gea’s wages before agreeing terms on a new contract and Kobel is viewed as a potential long-term successor.
Sport1 are reporting that Chelsea are also interested in the Dortmund goalkeeper, with Edouard Mendy expected to leave west London and Kepa Arrizabalaga having failed to convince.
Chelsea are understood to have held talks with Kobel’s representatives ahead of the club’s Champions League clash with Dortmund in London last week.
Kobel discussed his future in December amid speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich and insisted his focus is on success at Dortmund.
