Borussia Dortmund want to agree a new deal with Julian Brandt in a bid to ward off interest from Arsenal and Tottenham in the midfielder.
The north London duo are understood to be monitoring Brandt’s situation with the 26-year-old set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Dortmund this summer.
Brandt has produced the best football of his career with the club this season and has scored eight goals and laid on a further four assists in 23 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
Reports in Germany have suggested those performances have attracted Premier League interest with Bild stating that Arsenal and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on developments.
Dortmund are set to step up negotiations over a contract extension for Brandt and are prepared to ‘significantly’ increase his salary to a figure of around €7m per season, with the Germany international understood to be interested in the prospect of a move to England.
Brandt is Dortmund’s leading scorer in the Bundesliga this season and has been a key figure in the club’s campaign, with Edin Terzić’s side two points behind Bayern Munich in the title race.
