Antonio Conte has been backed to take over at Roma this summer, if Jose Mourinho leaves the Italian side at the end of the season.
Conte has been without a role since being sacked at Tottenham last month, with the 53-year-old dismissed in north London following his explosive comments criticising his squad and the Spurs board following a 3-3 draw with Southampton.
According to Calciomercato, Conte is being lined up as a potential replacement for Mourinho at Roma, with uncertainty surrounding the Portuguese’s future at the capital club.
Mourinho led Roma to the Europa Conference League title last season and his side are third in the Serie A table as the club chase Champions League qualification.
However, there is reported to have been friction with the Roma board over new signings and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering an approach to bring Mourinho to Paris. PSG could move on from Christophe Galtier at the end of the season, following another disappointing performance in the Champions League.
Mourinho is also said to have been subject of an approach from Saudi Arabia, one which would make the two-time Champions League winner the best-paid coach in world football.
Conte is viewed as an ideal replacement at Roma, given his past record in Serie A. He won three consecutive league titles at Juventus, before adding a fourth Scudetto at Inter Milan in 2020/21.
