Declan Rice said he was ‘buzzing’ after West Ham secured a ‘massive’ win against Manchester United.
Said Benrahma scored the only goal of the game to secure the Hammers a 1-0 win over Manchester United at the London Stadium, with the Algerian’s effort squirming in after a glaring error from David de Gea.
The win ended a run of three consecutive defeats for David Moyes’ side and lifts West Ham seven points clear of the Premier League’s relegation places.
Rice insists there remains work to do before West Ham can be considered safe from the drop, but expressed his delight after the East Londoners secured a ‘massive’ three points.
“It’s massive. The points it puts us on now put a nice gap between us and the teams at the bottom,” Rice told BT Sport.
”There’s still three to go but the significance of the three points is massive. We had our eye on this game as one we could win in front of the home fans. Today, the lads gave absolutely everything and it was a thoroughly deserved win.
“As players you can’t help to look around you. To win this one was big, to give ourselves a gap between ourselves and the bottom. Mathematically, you still need 40. We’ve got our semi-final Thursday and then we go to Brentford so we want to finish on a high.”
“Sometimes things go for you in football and today it was one of those things. I think that’s our best performance at home this season. Front foot, aggressive, 1v1, on the ball – everything today was a real positive performance.
“As a player, the whole world is watching. For me, for the lads, you put on the shirt, you go out there and you want to do it – you’re playing against Manchester United – you want to do it and today we did it so I’m buzzing.”
