Alexis Mac Allister reportedly has a ‘complex’ release clause in his Brighton contract.
The 24-year-old has shot to stardom this season, taking on a starring role for the high-flying Seagulls while being part of the World Cup winning Argentina squad in Qatar last year.
His form has seen him linked with a move away from the South Coast club this summer, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United said to be interested.
The Merseyside outfit are odds-on favourites to land the Argentine having opened talks with the players camp, with Fabrizio Romano saying this week that he is ‘expected to leave Brighton early in the summer’.
£60 million is a price that has been speculated in certain sections of the media, and The Athletic have today confirmed that the midfielder does have a clause in his deal that will help ‘facilitate’ a move.
However, they report that it isn’t a ‘typical’ release clause that can simply be triggered by any suitor, but confirm that there is a ‘mechanism’ in his deal that has ‘contributed to the level of interest’.
They say that this clause is ‘complex’ and gives Brighton ‘a say over the outcome’, meaning his departure is not a ‘foregone conclusion’.
The report adds that fellow midfielder, Moises Caicedo – who has attracted attention from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd – could also follow Mac Allister out of the exit door, though no decisions will be made on the pair’s futures until the end of the season.
