Chelsea and Manchester United believe Napoli will sell Victor Osimhen for a fee of £130m this summer, despite a public insistence that the forward is not for sale.
Osimhen is a transfer target for the Premier League duo after a spectacular season at Napoli. The Nigeria international is the leading scorer in Serie A with 23 goals in 28 appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side, who were crowned as champions for the first time since 1990 after a 1-1 draw at Udinese on Thursday.
Osimhen’s equaliser confirmed Napoli’s first Scudetto in 33 years, with Spalletti’s side having become just the third team in Italian football history to win the title with five games to spare.
Napoli are aware of interest from Europe’s top clubs and have insisted the 24-year-old is not for sale, but the Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea and United are confident an agreement can be reached for a British transfer record fee.
Each believe a figure of £130m would be enough to persuade Napoli to sell, while that fee looks set to rule out Bayern Munich in the race to land the coveted forward.
Osimhen has scored 47 goals in 79 league appearances since signing for Napoli from Lille in 2020, while his form this season has seen the forward break Samuel Eto’o’s record for the highest-scoring Serie A campaign from an African player.
