Ilkay Gundogan’s future remains undecided with ‘no agreements’ reached as the midfielder approaches the end of his contract at Manchester City.
Gundogan will become a free agent this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona after seven seasons of success at the Etihad.
The 32-year-old has had another influential season at City and scored twice during the club’s 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday, as Pep Guardiola’s side moved within touching distance of a fifth Premier League title in six seasons.
The Athletic are reporting that ‘no agreements’ have been reached on the German’s future despite strong links to Barcelona, with the prospect of signing a new deal at City not ruled out. Gundogan’s situation is described as ‘open’ with the immediate focus on City’s pursuit of the treble.
Discussions over a new deal have stalled over the length of contract offered, but an extension has not been ruled out should a compromise be found.
Gundogan has made 300 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens since arriving from Borussia Dortmund as Guardiola’s first signing in 2016.
