Pochettino to pen three-year deal at Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has agreed terms to become Chelsea’s head coach ahead of next season and will sign a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino has been in talks with Chelsea and is set to sign a contract that will confirm his appointment as Graham Potter’s successor.

Potter was sacked after less than seven months in charge earlier this season and Chelsea have turned to former Tottenham manager Pochettino to lead their expensively assembled squad next season.

The Times are reporting that an official announcement on Pochettino is expected soon, with Chelsea having reverted to a contract length of three seasons after the unsuccessful appointment of Potter on a long-term deal.

His most recent role was with Paris Saint-Germain, who he guided to the Ligue 1 title in 2021/22 before departing the Parc des Princes last summer.

He will be tasked with improving the performances of a side who have struggled this season with Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table. The west Londoners are unable to secure European football for next season with three games of the season remaining.
