Feyenoord keen to reward Slot amid Spurs interest

Feyenoord are set to offer Arne Slot a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from Tottenham in the club’s head coach.

Slot has been linked with the vacant role at Spurs after guiding Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title this season.

The 44-year-old has impressed across his two seasons with the Dutch side, having led Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final during his debut campaign, before lifting a first league title since 2017 this season.

Feyenoord are desperate to retain the services of Slot after just a second Eredivisie title this century and the Telegraph are reporting that the club will offer their head coach a new contract worth €3m per season.

Slot could earn around double that figure with a move to the Premier League, but the offer represents a significant proposal from the Dutch side and is a clear indication of their desire to keep the title-winning manager.

Slot is understood to be on a shortlist of candidates for Spurs that also includes ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, while the north Londoners are admirers of Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou and Xabi Alonso, who has impressed in his first senior role at Bayer Leverkusen this season.
