Arsenal confident of club-record £92m deal for Declan Rice

Arsenal are confident of agreeing a club-record deal worth £92m for West Ham captain Declan Rice.

Rice is Arsenal’s top transfer target ahead of the summer window as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his squad and build on this season’s unexpected title challenge.

The Gunners will return to the Champions League after a six-season absence next season and are keen to improve their midfield with the addition of Rice from West Ham.

The England midfielder is expected to leave the London Stadium after turning down a new deal and the Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal are increasingly confident of signing the 24-year-old.

Arsenal are working on the structure of a deal worth around £92m for Rice, a fee that would represent a club-record for the north Londoners and surpass the £72m fee paid for Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

West Ham are demanding that the bulk of that fee is paid upfront. Manchester United are also interested in Rice – who leads the Premier League for interceptions this season – but Arsenal appear the frontrunners in the race to sign the midfielder.
