Kyle Walker has called on Manchester City to create history this season after the club were crowned Premier League champions.
City were confirmed as Premier League champions for a fifth time in six seasons this weekend, after nearest challengers Arsenal lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest.
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea 1-0 in their final home fixture of the season, courtesy of Julian Alvarez’s goal, before being presented with the Premier League trophy.
The league title is the first of what could be a historic treble for the Citizens, who will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3 and Inter Milan in the Champions League final a week later.
Walker insisted City are ‘not finished’ this season despite their title win and called on the squad to create history and be remembered as ‘one of the greatest Premier League teams of all time’.
“We always believed we could do this. This group of lad are professionals and winners,” he told Sky Sports.
“Rest assured we are not finished. We have the FA Cup against our bitter rivals and then the Champions League.
“We will celebrate tonight and then move on to try and create history.
“The treble would be fantastic but there is a lot of football to be played.
“To say we are up there with one of the greatest Premier League teams of all time we have to conquer some of that.
“To go and achieve that we could then start talking about being one of the greatest teams in the Premier League.”
