Rudiger honoured by Bayern interest but Chelsea centre-back in no rush to decide future

Antonio Rudiger says he is honoured by reported interest from Bayern Munich, but insists he is in no rush to make a decision on his Chelsea future.

Rudiger has entered the final season of his contract at Chelsea and has so far failed to agree terms on a new deal, with a host of Europe’s leading clubs monitoring his situation ahead of a potential free transfer deal.

Bayern Munich have been credited with an interest in the Germany international and the Bundesliga side will be able to approach the centre-back on a pre-contract agreement from January.

The 28-year-old admits he is honoured to hear of reported interest from the Bavarian giants, but insists his focus remains on performing well for Chelsea, having established himself as an integral figure since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as head coach.

“Of course [Bayern’s interest] honours me and proves that I’ve been doing things right,’ he said, as per the Mirror.

“But I don’t let myself be distracted. I have an obligation to my club to perform well. I have to prove myself every game and not let myself be distracted by rumours.

“I make my decisions for myself. They don’t depend on anyone. I feel good where I am.”
