Premier League clubs showing interest in Christian Eriksen as he plots comeback

Premier League clubs are interested in signing Christian Eriksen as the midfielder plots his comeback to professional football.

Eriksen has not featured since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash with Finland last summer, with the 29-year-old collapsing and requiring life-saving treatment during distressing scenes at the tournament.

Eriksen has since been fitted with an internal defibrillator as he plans a comeback, but is now a free agent following the mutual agreement to terminate his contract at Inter Milan.

Italian football prevents players from playing in Serie A with a defibrillator device and a decision was made to release Eriksen – who has been cleared to resume his competitive career following medical tests – in order to allow him to find a new club.

The Mail are reporting that the Dane is in talks with several clubs over a potential move with interest from sides in England, the Netherlands and Denmark, with former club Ajax having been strongly linked with his signing.

Ajax currently having Daley Blind amongst their ranks, who resumed his own playing career after being fitted with an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator).

Eriksen previously made 305 appearances during a six-and-a-half season spell at Tottenham, who are now under the guidance of Antonio Conte. Conte previously signed the midfielder for Inter Milan in a £17m deal in 2019, with Eriksen forming part of the side that won Serie A under the Italian last season.

However, there aren’t any suggestions within the article as to which English clubs are interested.
