Rangers ‘leading’ race to sign Aaron Ramsey

Rangers are leading a number of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus.

Ramsey is set to leave Juventus after falling out of favour with the Bianconeri, with the Wales international having made just five appearances in all competitions for Max Allegri’s side this season.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League sides including Wolves, Burnley and Crystal Palace, but could now move to the Scottish champions before the transfer deadline as Rangers close in on a move for the midfielder.

According to Sky Sports, Juventus are willing to continue paying a high portion of Ramsey’s high wages in order to facilitate a move, though Ramsey would need to take a pay cut in order to make the move permanent at the end of any loan agreement.

The midfielder signed for Juventus on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2019 and has made 70 appearances across all competitions for the Italian side, winning the Serie A title in 2019/20.

He has fallen out of favour this season, however, and is keen for regular first-team football after a frustrating period in Turin.

He previously spent 11 years with the Gunners and was twice named as the club’s Player of the Season, winning three FA Cup winners’ medals with the North London side.
