Man Utd urge Pogba and other wantaway stars to delay decision amid manager search

Manchester United have urged Paul Pogba and other wantaway stars to delay a decision on their future until the appointment of the club’s next manager.

United are currently assessing candidates to become the club’s next permanent manager, with Ralf Rangnick having been placed in interim charge until the end of the season.

The Red Devils are hopeful their next appointment can convince a number of unsettled names to commit their future to the project, including Pogba, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The France international is a free agent this summer and has been linked with a host of leading clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and former side Juventus. He has so far failed to sign an extension despite a contract offer from the Red Devils.

ESPN are reporting that Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek have also been asked to delay a decision on their future, after both players departed on loan in January in search of regular first-team football.

Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard are among the other senior members of the squad to have been interested in a January exit, with the latter ‘expected’ to leave on a free transfer in the summer after seeing a loan move to Newcastle blocked.

United’s shortlist of candidates is believed to include Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag and football director John Murtough is keen to ensure the new manager has a full squad of current options to decide from upon their arrival at Old Trafford.
