Thomas Tuchel has provided a fitness update ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final and confirmed Chelsea have an almost clean bill of health.
Chelsea take on Liverpool at Wembley this weekend as the west Londoners seek their second silverware of the month, having beaten Palmeiras to claim the Club World Cup on February 12.
Tuchel’s side have won their past six fixtures in all competitions ahead of the final and the German has been boosted with the news that Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic will be available.
The duo limped off during the Blues’ 2-0 win over Lille in the Champions League in midweek, but Tuchel has confirmed both are available ahead of Sunday’s showpiece against the Reds.
“We had training today with everyone on the pitch except for Ben Chilwell, which is brilliant news. This is pretty much it,” Tuchel told his pre-match press conference.
“Both Kovacic and Ziyech are okay today. Everybody joined team training from the first to the last minute. No reactions but positive reactions. I hope it stays like this.
“We have another training session tomorrow and then we have Sunday.”
Chelsea will be seeking a sixth win in the League Cup against a Liverpool side who can make it a record nine trophies this weekend.
The two teams previously met in the final of the competition in 2005, with the Blues emerging victorious 3-2 after extra time.
