Manchester United have ‘no intention’ of renewing Lingard, Cavani, and Mata deals

Manchester United have ‘no intention’ to renew the contracts of Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata with the trio all expected to leave on free transfers this summer.

Lingard looks set to secure a move away from the Red Devils after seeing an exit blocked during the January transfer window, the midfielder having struggled for regular first-team football and he has made just one Premier League start this season.

The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and the Hammers are expected to be among the sides interested in signing Lingard as a free agent, whilst both Tottenham and Newcastle have also been linked.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Lingard is one of several players who will depart as free agents, alongside Cavani and Mata.

Cavani has struggled with fitness problems this season after an impressive debut campaign, with the Uruguay international having scored 17 goals across all competitions in 2020/21.

However, the 35-year-old has made just six league starts and has been linked with a move to Real Sociedad. Mata is another name who has been on the fringes this season and the 33-year-old looks set to move on after seven seasons at Old Trafford.

United are, however, expected to announce a new deal for Bruno Fernandes in the coming days and plan to open talks with Luke Shaw over an extension to his contract.
