Abramovich ‘fine’ after alleged poisoning

Roman Abramovich is ‘fine’ after the Chelsea owner was the victim of an alleged poisoning.

The Russian and Ukrainian peace negotiators experienced symptoms consistent with poisoning with chemical weapons, including “piercing pain in the eyes” and peeling skin.

Investigative website Bellingcat revealed the news, but confirmed the alleged dose was not enough to cause life-threatening damage.

Bellingcat tweeted: “Bellingcat can confirm that three members of the delegation attending the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on the night of 3 to 4 March 2022 experienced symptoms consistent with poisoning with chemical weapons.

“One of the victims was Russian entrepreneur Roman Abramovich.”

Sky Sports are reporting that Abramovich is now ‘fine’ after the scare, whilst a US official has raised doubts over a potential poisoning and suggested that the cause was more likely to be due to environmental factors.

Abramovich has been travelling between Moscow and Kyiv during several rounds of peace talks amid Russia’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine.
