Chelsea ready to submit second bid with Sterling ‘keen’ on Stamford Bridge switch

Chelsea are set to submit a second bid for Raheem Sterling with the Manchester City winger ‘keen’ on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Sterling looks set to leave the Premier League champions after entering the final year of his contract, with the England international determined to secure a more prominent role after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

The 27-year-old is a lead target for Chelsea following the club’s takeover and the Blues are preparing to submit a second offer for Sterling.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that there are ‘positive feelings’ around a deal with all parties hopeful of reaching an agreement. Chelsea have already discussed personal terms with Sterling, whilst City will not stand in the winger’s way after seven seasons of service at the Etihad.

Sterling has scored 131 goals in 339 appearances since signing for City in a £49m deal from Liverpool in 2015, winning four Premier League titles among his major honours.

He is keen to leave the club after seeing his role reduced and will hope to feature as a central figure in Thomas Tuchel’s plans next season, should an agreement be reached.

Chelsea are looking to add goals to the side after agreeing a deal to loan Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan, following a disappointing debut campaign for the club record signing last season.
