United unsure whether Ronaldo will join squad for tour

Manchester United are ‘unsure’ if Cristiano Ronaldo will join the squad for their pre-season tour, with the Red Devils set to fly out to Thailand on Friday.

Ronaldo has not rejoined his teammates for pre-season training this week due to family reasons, with the club having accepted his explanation.

However, the 37-year-old is understood to be unsettled and keen on a departure this summer, having expressed his frustration with United’s inability to challenge for major trophies.

Sky Sports are reporting that United are unsure whether Ronaldo will join the squad for their pre-season tour this week, despite a stance that the Portugal captain is not for sale.

Ronaldo wants to conclude the final seasons of his career in the Champions League and competing for trophies, after the Red Devils missed out on a top four finish last season.

The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly touted his services to several sides, having compiled a dossier on the positives of signing Ronaldo, detailing his sponsorships and social media and ‘new markets’ influence.

Chelsea’s new co-owner, Todd Boehly, is believed to be considering an approach, while Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Napoli have all also been linked.
