Harry Kane is ‘open to talks’ with Tottenham over a new contract with the forward impressed with the club’s progress under Antonio Conte.
Kane has two years remaining on his current deal in north London and agitated for an exit last summer, with Manchester City having made an approach to sign the England captain.
Spurs held firm on their stance that Kane was not for sale, with the 28-year-old recovering from a slow start to the season to score 17 league goals and fire the club to a top four finish.
Kane’s improvement came following the arrival of Conte as manager in November, with the Italian having made a huge impact on the squad.
Spurs have since backed Conte during his first summer in charge and the club have made six new signings ahead of their Champions League return. Football.london are reporting that Spurs’ improvement under Conte has persuaded Kane that the north Londoners can match his own ambitions with the forward prepared to discuss a new deal.
Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Kane next summer with the club’s chief executive, Oliver Kahn, having called the forward a ‘dream for the future’ following the exit of Robert Lewandowski.
Spurs have not yet approached Kane over a new deal but the increased optimism from both club and player means discussions are expected.
Kane has scored 248 goals in 386 appearances since coming through the club’s academy ranks and is closing in on Jimmy Greaves’ all-time goalscoring record for the club (266).
