Belotti set to shun Premier League interest and join Roma

Premier League clubs have been dealt a blow with Andrea Belotti set to turn down interest from England in favour of a move to Roma.

Belotti has attracted interest from across Europe after leaving Torino this summer, with the forward having become a free agent following the expiration of his contract.

The 28-year-old scored 113 goals in 251 appearances across his seven seasons with Torino and had reportedly been on the radar of West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Arsenal this summer.

He also formed part of the Italy squad that won the European Championship last summer and has 12 goals in 44 appearances for the Azzurri at international level.

Monaco and Valencia had also been linked, though Football Italia are reporting that Belotti is set to turn down offers from abroad to sign a three-year deal with Roma.

Belotti will become Roma’s fifth major signing of the summer and will join former Juventus forward Paulo Dybala in joining Jose Mourinho’s side on a free transfer.

Roma finished sixth in Serie A last season, in addition to winning a first European trophy with success in the Europa Conference League.
