Manchester United have rejected approaches for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the club keen to keep two right-backs among their options this season.
West Ham and Crystal Palace both made approaches to sign the 24-year-old before Thursday’s deadline, with Wan-Bissaka having featured for just four minutes across the Red Devils opening four fixtures of the Premier League season.
The out-of-favour defender has fallen behind Diogo Dalot in the pecking order at Old Trafford, but The Athletic are reporting that United will not allow Wan-Bissaka to leave without a replacement and there is ‘little expectation’ that will happen in the final days of the window.
Wan-Bissaka signed for United in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace in 2019, but has failed to develop as hoped.
United are expected to announce further arrivals after agreeing deals to sign Ajax winger Antony and Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, but a right-back is not on the club’s agenda at present.
However, Sport claimed on Monday that there have been talks over a potential swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka and Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest, who worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before moving to the Spanish side.
