Manchester United complete signing of Antony from Ajax

Manchester United have announced the signing of Antony from Ajax with the winger having finalised his move to Old Trafford.

The Brazil international has signed a five-year deal with the option for a further season, after United agreed a fee of £85.4m for the 22-year-old.

Antony becomes the Eredivisie’s record sale and the most expensive deadline day purchase in Premier League history, with Erik ten Hag having been keen to reunite with a player who scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists under his management at Ajax last season.

The winger has expressed his delight at completing a move to Manchester and believes Ten Hag’s style of football can bring ‘the best’ from him at United.

“This is an incredible moment in my career to be joining one of the most iconic clubs in the world,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m thankful to everyone who has believed in me, especially my family, and all my coaches and team-mates, because I could not have got here without them.

“Playing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax was perfect for me and my development. His style of football and coaching brings out the best in me, and I am excited by what he has told me about his plans and ambitions in Manchester.

“My time at Ajax was fantastic and I will always be grateful for the trust they put in me, but now I am ready for the next challenge, and I can’t wait to join my new team-mates and play my part in bringing success to Manchester United.”
