Manchester United are not actively pursuing transfers ahead of the January transfer window, following the club’s record-breaking summer spend.
United spent £225.4million on five players during the summer as Erik ten Hag was backed in his first transfer window as manager, with Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Casemiro all arriving at Old Trafford.
That investment is set to lead to a quiet winter window with the Manchester Evening News reporting that the Red Devils are not actively pursuing targets.
Ten Hag wants to add a centre-forward and right-back to his squad, though those areas are expected to be addressed in the summer. It is unlikely that stance will change, despite uncertainty surrounding the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Ronaldo agitated for an exit during the summer but has since been reintegrated into the side, while Wan-Bissaka was informed he was free to leave the club last summer.
According to the report, United’s focus will instead be on renegotiating contracts for current stars, with decisions to be made on the futures of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot, David de Gea, Fred and Luke Shaw.
Each are out of contract at the end of the season, though the club possess an option to extend all of those deals for a further season.
