Manchester United have made an approach for Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, as the club look to bring in a midfielder before the deadline.
Erik ten Hag appeared to rule out any incomings before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline, but the news that Christian Eriksen will be out until late April has prompted the Red Devils to enter the market.
Eriksen sustained an ankle injury during the 3-1 win over Reading on Saturday and the club have confirmed that the midfielder is expected to miss much of the remainder of the campaign.
Sabitzer has now emerged as a target for United in the final hours of the transfer window and the club have approached Bayern Munich over a potential deal.
The 28-year-old signed for Bayern from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €16m in 2021, but has struggled to command a regular role in the side. Sabitzer has started just seven Bundesliga fixtures so far this season and could be allowed to leave in search of more minutes.

Chelsea are also understood to have considered a move for the Austria international, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the west Londoners are focused on alternative targets.
Chelsea remain in pursuit of a deal to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in a transfer that will break the British transfer record.
