Arteta eyes four players this summer with Declan Rice at the top of his list

Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to add four new faces to his Arsenal squad this summer, with Declan Rice the top priority.

Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League, and could open up a five-point advantage with a win over Everton this evening.

Even if they don’t manage to secure a first league title since 2003/04, the Gunners look a shoo-in to make their first return to the Champions League since 2017.

According to the Times, Mikel Arteta is planning to use the additional Champions League income to overhaul his squad, with the Spaniard keen to add four new faces to his squad.

The report says that Arsenal are ‘confident’ of beating Chelsea in the race to sign Declan Rice, and ‘could renew’ their interest in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners saw a £70 million bid rejected for the Ecuadorean in January and could rekindle their interest in the summer as Arteta looks to add two new midfielders to his side.

The report says that Arsenal also want to add a winger and a left-back to their squad, with the investment set to be funded by the additional Champions League income as well as the sale of fringe players.

Former Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney could be one player to make way after losing his place to Oleksandr Zincheko, with Arsenal keen to recoup the £25 million that they spent on him in 2019.

Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares could also be offloaded to raise funds, the pair currently on loan at Crystal Palace and Marseille respectively.
