Leicester could offer Potter instant management return

Leicester are considering offering Graham Potter an instant return to management following his dismissal at Chelsea.

Chelsea announced that Potter had been sacked as manager on Sunday, less than seven months after his appointment. The decision to sack the ex-Brighton boss came following a disappointing start to his reign that saw the west Londoners win just seven of 22 Premier League fixtures.

The Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa leaves Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table and 12 points adrift of the Champions League places.

Despite Potter’s struggles at Chelsea, he retains respect at several Premier League clubs and Leicester are long-term admirers.

talkSPORT are reporting that the Foxes are considering offering Potter an instant return to Premier League management after Brendan Rodgers left the club by mutual consent over the weekend.

A decision was made on Rodgers’ future after Leicester lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday, a defeat which leaves the Foxes 19th in the Premier League table. Leicester are without a win in six league games and the club will be keen to appoint a new head coach quickly given their precarious position in the relegation places.

The Daily Mail claim that Rafael Benitez, Jesse Marsch, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Adi Hutte are also on the club’s shortlist of potential replacements for Rodgers.
