Chelsea keen on £60m-rated Atalanta striker

Chelsea are keen on a deal to sign Ramus Hojland from Atalanta and have opened negotiations over a potential deal for the forward.

Hojland’s impressive debut season at Atalanta has alerted Europe’s top clubs and Chelsea have joined the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid in expressing an interest in signing the 20-year-old this summer.

He has scored eight goals in all competitions since signing for the Italian side from Sturm Graz last summer and announced his arrival on the international stage with a hat-trick on his full debut for Denmark last month.

Hojland followed that treble with two goals against Kazakhstan and is the leading scorer in qualification for the 2024 European Championship after the opening round of fixtures.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea held talks over Hojland after inviting Atalanta chairman Antonio Percassi to their recent Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The Serie A side are said to be demanding £60m for the forward, who arrived for a fee of just £15m during last summer’s transfer window.

Chelsea require substantial sales this summer in order to meet Financial Fair Play rules, but remain interested in signing a centre-forward. Hojland fits the profile of player Chelsea have targeted in recent windows, with the youngster an exciting prospect with room to develop.
