Luis Enrique has arrived in London to hold discussions over becoming Chelsea’s next head coach.
Enrique is among the frontrunners to replace Graham Potter, who was sacked on Sunday with Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table.
Enrique is available having left his role with the Spain national team after the World Cup in Qatar and is understood to be keen on the opportunity to work in the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the 52-year-old has flown into London for talks with the Chelsea board and is ‘100% keen’ on the prospect of taking charge at Stamford Bridge.
Julian Nagelsmann remains the leading candidate to replace Potter after his departure from Bayern Munich, though Enrique’s experience and proven track-record of winning major trophies will appeal.
Enrique’s greatest success came at Barcelona, who he led to a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble during the 2014/15 campaign and guided to nine trophies across three seasons at the Camp Nou.
Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked with Chelsea, though Romano reports that there has been ‘no contact’ with the former Spurs boss or other managerial options to date.
