Kane and Firmino eyed as potential Benzema replacements at Real Madrid

Real Madrid could make a move to sign Harry Kane this summer, if Karim Benzema accepts a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Benzema is weighing up a mega-money offer from Saudi Arabia worth around £100m-per-season and Real Madrid have began to discuss potential replacements for the forward.

Harry Kane is understood to be on the club’s shortlist of candidates to replace Benzema and The Times are reporting that Tottenham are ‘more open’ to selling the club’s record goalscorer to a foreign club this summer, should the 29-year-old push for an exit.

Kane has just over a year to run on his contract at Spurs and could agitate for a transfer this summer, as the England captain looks to win elusive silverware. Kane has failed to win a major trophy in his career to date and the prospect of a move to the 14-time European champions could appeal, given Spurs are set to begin a rebuilding process this summer.

Manchester United are also keen on Kane, who scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season. Spurs will demand a fee in excess of £100m for the forward from any club interested in a deal.

Roberto Firmino is also on the radar of Real Madrid, with the Brazilian set to become a free agent when his contract at Liverpool expires later this month.

Firmino scored 13 goals in all competitions for the Reds in 2022/23 and could still sign for the Spaniards as support for Benzema if the Frenchman turns down the offer from the Middle East. Former Newcastle and Stoke forward Joselu is also a potential target after scoring 16 goals for relegated Espanyol last season.

Benzema is the latest big name linked with The Saudi Pro League, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr. The Ballon d’Or winner is one of several high-profile targets as Saudi Arabia looks to grow its domestic league, alongside Lionel Messi, Hugo Lloris and Sergio Busquets.
