Manchester United hold ‘detailed’ talks over Rasmus Hojland

Manchester United have held ‘detailed’ discussions over the signing of Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojland.

Erik ten Hag has made the signing of a centre-forward the club’s leading focus for the summer transfer window and internal discussions have centred around potential targets.

Harry Kane is understood to be the priority for Manchester United, but talks have also taken place regarding Atalanta’s Hojland and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani.

United remain uncertain about the viability of signing Kane, with Spurs set to demand a fee in excess of £100m for the 29-year-old and reluctant to sell the England captain to a direct rival.

According to The Athletic, Ten Hag ‘ideally’ wants to improve his forward line with the signing of a young forward in addition to an experienced option and Hojland fits the former profile.

The 20-year-old has had a breakthrough season at Atalanta to score nine goals in all competitions and hit the headlines with five goals in two starts for Denmark during March’s international break.

United have held talks with Atalanta and Frankfurt over Hojland and Kolo Muani respectively and both sides are open to a sale should suitable offers arrived.

Hojland appears the more affordable option of the two, given Frankfurt value Kolo Muani at around €80m (£68.7m) following a season that has seen the forward score 23 goals in all competitions and break into the France squad.
