Ten Hag against Man United selling Greenwood but open to loan

Erik ten Hag is against Manchester United selling Mason Greenwood but is open to allowing the forward to leave on loan.

Greenwood has not featured for the club since January 2022 after being suspended following his arrest amid allegations of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the charges against Greenwood had been dropped in February, though United have continued to conduct their own internal investigation before a decision is made on Greenwood’s future.

The process remains ongoing and Greenwood has not returned to Manchester United training, but has been pictured training privately ahead of a potential return to football.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag is against the sale of the forward on a permanent deal but is open to allowing the academy graduate to depart on loan ahead of the new season.

Greenwood has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the Red Devils and made his senior England debut against Iceland in 2020.
