Manchester United’s interest in Andre Onana is ‘concrete’ as the club pursue a deal for the Inter Milan goalkeeper.
Onana is the club’s leading transfer target to replace David de Gea next season, with the latter out of contract on Friday and expected to leave as a free agent after failing to agree terms on a new deal at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag previously worked with Onana at Ajax and is keen on a reunion with the Cameroon international, who starred as Inter Milan reached the Champions League final last season.
The 27-year-old’s comfortability with the ball at his feet is viewed as an upgrade on De Gea, who has been criticised for his distribution.
The Spanish shot-stopper was criticised for his role in Manchester United’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City, in which he was at fault for Ilkay Gundogan’s second goal and produced some poor distribution at Wembley.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Red Devils have a ‘concrete’ interest in Onana as a replacement and have opened negotiations, but are yet to submit an official offer to Inter Milan. The Italian side value the goalkeeper at around €50m.
