Ajax midfielder has ‘strong preference’ to join Arsenal over Chelsea

Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal amid reports linking him to Chelsea.

Kudus is capable of playing in a number of roles across the front line and in midfield, and has been linked with a number of Premier League sides in recent months after shining for the Dutch outfit,

The Ghanaian netted 18 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances for Ajax last season, and has been tipped as the next big-name departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena.

He was linked with a move to Everton last summer, while Arsenal, Chelsea and a reunion with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United have all been reported during this window.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Chelsea were in pole position to sign the 22-year-old as they look to bolster their depleted midfield, with the West London club opening talks over a potential move.

However, Football Transfers claim that while Kudus would be ‘happy’ to move to Stamford Bridge, he has ‘expressed a strong preference’ to make a move to the Blues’ London rivals, Arsenal.

They say that the ability to play Champions League football would be a ‘prominent aspect’ of his decision, something that Arsenal could offer after their superb season last term.

Arsenal, however, have already spent heavily this summer and need to free up funds through player sales for any further incoming, with Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun potentially raising up to £60 million for the Gunners.
