The future of Moises Caicedo has fast become the saga of the summer transfer window and there appears to be more twists before a deal is done.
Liverpool have agreed a £110m British transfer record fee with Brighton to sign the midfielder, with the expectation that Caicedo would travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical on Friday.
Chelsea had seen two offers rejected for the Ecuador international and appeared set to miss out, but the west Londoners are reportedly not prepared to give up on a deal.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea have ‘no intention to give up until contracts are signed’, while Sky Sports are reporting that Caicedo and his representatives remain in London amid doubts over a move to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp discussed a potential deal for Caicedo during his press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Chelsea this weekend, confirming a deal had been agreed but not yet finalised.
Liverpool and Brighton have prepared the contracts ready to complete the record-breaking transfer, but reluctance from the midfielder could see a deal stall.
Chelsea had reportedly been willing to pay around £100m for Caicedo, while Bayern Munich – also interested in a deal – valued the Ecuadorian at around £90m.
