Jurgen Klopp has called for ‘regulations’ in the transfer market and says ‘endless money causes a problem’ for clubs.
Liverpool have faced a challenging transfer window with the Reds having struggled to secure deals for top targets, with both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia choosing Chelsea despite Liverpool agreeing fees with their respective clubs.
The emergence of Saudi Arabia as a financial force in football has also altered the landscape and Klopp admits the money of other teams makes things ‘difficult’ for ‘normal clubs’.
“It’s not harder to attract players, everything now is just so difficult,” Klopp said at a pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s fixture with Bournemouth.
“There are a lot of things that are different this year. As a normal club it’s difficult to catch up with other teams.
“I don’t blame anyone but that’s how it is. Saudi Arabia also doesn’t make it easy. Our window shuts next month but other windows stay open.
“The endless money causes a problem, that’s how it is. What can we do now? It would be cool if someone could find a solution or regulations, I don’t know.”
