Pochettino reaffirms faith in Chelsea forward Armando Broja

Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out more signings at Chelsea but has reiterated his faith in the current squad.

Chelsea have been active in the transfer market with eight new arrivals, including the £115m British transfer record signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton, and Pochettino is pleased with the options at his disposal.

“I think it’s good. No bigger than we have now,” Pochettino said on his squad size at a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with West Ham.

“We can add some players but not many. This number of 22, 23 players I think is perfect at the moment.”

Chelsea saw a move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise fall through this week and remain open to new additions. However, Pochettino is keen to ensure the development of the club’s current options does not suffer and outlined his faith in forward Armando Broja.

The 21-year-old missed much of last season with an ACL injury but has since returned to full fitness and Chelsea have rejected approaches from other clubs for the Albanian this summer.

“We are working of course. We’re seeing all the options we can manage on the market. I think all the clubs are the same as us.

“In the same time we are keeping eyes on Armando Broja because I think we cannot forget him. We cannot stop him by bringing a profile of player that could stop his evolution. We really believe in him, he can be a really important strike for Chelsea. We need to be careful.”
