Olmo shuts down Manchester City speculation

RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo has shut down speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.

Olmo has been named as a potential transfer target for the Premier League champions after Kevin De Bruyne sustained a hamstring injury, one that is expected to sideline the midfielder until the new year after surgery.

Olmo is understood to have been viewed as an option for Pep Guardiola, with the Spain international having impressed across four seasons at Leipzig.

The 25-year-old – who is comfortable in a number of roles across midfield and further forward – scored a hat-trick as Leipzig opened the season with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the German Supercup on August 12.

Leipzig have seen a number of high-profile exits this summer with Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol all completing moves to the Premier League, but Olmo insists he has no immediate plans to follow his former team-mates to English football.

“There is nothing!” Olmo told BILD.

“I’m fully focused on the task in Leipzig, the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the cup.

“Man City are a big club — one of the biggest in the world. Josko [Gvardiol] went there. But I’m happy here.”
