Al-Ittihad have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Mohamed Salah

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.

Salah was subject of interest from Al-Ittihad earlier in the transfer window and the Saudi side are ready to reignite their pursuit of the Egyptian before the deadline, according to The Athletic.

Salah’s agent dismissed speculation surrounding a potential move to the Middle East earlier this month, insisting that the 31-year-old remained happy at Liverpool after signing a new three-year contract with the club in 2022.

“If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC,” his representative, Ramy Abbas, said.

Al-Itthad are one of four clubs who the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund have taken ownership of this summer with a focus on bringing overseas talent to the division. The side have already signed Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho.

Liverpool sanctioned the sale of Fabinho in a £40m deal earlier this summer and have also sold Jordan Henderson to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, managed by ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, in the current window.

Salah has scored 187 goals in all competitions for Liverpool and moved fifth in the club’s all-time list of leading scorers after netting against Bournemouth last weekend.
