Man United hoping to agree Amrabat loan

Manchester United are hoping to agree a deal to sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina, due to the club’s financial fair play situation.

Amrabat is Erik ten Hag’s top target to reinforce the club’s midfield before the transfer deadline and is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

The Morocco international has been left out of recent Fiorentina squads as he agitates for a move away from the club, having entered the final 12 months of his deal in Florence.

United’s move for the 27-year-old is complicated due to the club working on a restricted budget due to financial fair play rules.

The Red Devils have struggled to offload a number of assets, with Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Eric Bailly among those who have seen transfers fail to materialise despite interest from other clubs.

The Athletic are reporting that United are now working on a loan deal for Amrabat, with a permanent move unlikely at this stage. Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravernberch has also been considered, but there has been little progress in a pursuit of the Dutchman.

United are set to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as Dean Henderson closes in on a move to Crystal Palace, while talks are ongoing with Chelsea over a loan move for left-back Marc Cucurella.
