Bayern Munich target deal for £77m-rated Fulham midfielder

Bayern Munich have placed Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha on their shortlist of options as the club look to sign a defensive midfielder before the deadline.

Palhinha has attracted interest from a number of top clubs after an excellent debut season at Fulham, one which saw the 28-year-old lead the Premier League for tackles and duels won.

West Ham saw a £45m bid for the Portugal international rejected earlier in the transfer window, but interest remains in Palhinha and Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern are preparing a bid.

Fulham would demand a fee of around €90m (£77m) for Palhinha, who is open to the move to the Bundesliga champions. Thomas Tuchel is determined to add a number six to his squad and Palhinha’s potential arrival could pave the way for Ryan Gravenberch to sign for Liverpool.

The Netherlands international struggled for minutes last season and Liverpool have enquired into his availability.

Bayern had also considered a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, but interest in the 26-year-old is said to have cooled.

The Germans have been linked with a host of Premier League names in the final stages of the transfer window, including Tottenham centre-back Eric Dier and Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
