Ten Hag talks Man United-Arsenal rivalry and one of the ‘biggest games in the Premier League’

Erik ten Hag has called Manchester United and Arsenal one of the ‘biggest games in the Premier League’ ahead his side’s trip to north London this weekend.

Manchester United travel to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday with both teams looking to improve from unconvincing starts to the new campaign.

The two teams have historically shared a fierce rivalry in the Premier League era, which peaked across the turn of the millennium as the sides shared eight consecutive league titles between 1996 and 2004.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag said he is relishing the chance to face the Gunners once again, in a clash between two teams ‘who really play offensive football’.

“This is one of the biggest games in the Premier League and we are really looking forward, these are always interesting games, intense games, two teams who really play offensive football. The audience is always the big winner so always looking forward to it.”

United discovered their opponents for the Champions League’s group stage on Friday evening, with the Red Devils set to face Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray.

Ten Hag said his side require depth to go far on all fronts this season as the club chase deadline day additions. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and left-back Sergio Reguilon have arrived, while the Red Devils are nearing a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

“We need the depth to go in four competitions. Our players, most of them are international players so they are all over the world, so we have to cover and be prepared for that situation where we can put a team on the pitch.”
