Postecoglou: Spurs support ‘unbelievable’ in Liverpool win

Ange Postecoglou has hailed the Spurs support as ‘unbelievable’ during his side’s 2-1 win over Liverpool in north London.

Spurs climbed up to second in the Premier League table after a dramatic win over Liverpool on Sunday, a fixture which saw Postecoglou’s side snatch three points with a 96th minute winner.

Joel Matip’s own goal sealed the win for Spurs, in a clash packed full of incident as Liverpool saw two men sent off and a Luis Diaz goal wrongly disallowed for offside.

Postecoglou was pleased his side overcame another challenge in an impressive start to his reign at the club.

“Particularly the manner in which it happened, it leaves the real impact and impression on everyone involved,” the Australian told Match of the Day on the win.

“Another challenge for us today. We had to cope with a fair few things and show a different side of our game today. Second half I thought we were really good.”

Spurs celebrated another late victory after a last-gasp win over Sheffield United earlier this month and Postecoglou praised the home crowd for their support.

“It’s important. We’re still a team in its infancy in terms of the way we want to play, the age and experience of the group. The support behind us at home the last two games had been unbelievable, the energy they’ve given the lads.

“We’re going to need that going forward, we’ll have more challenges and particularly having the support behind us at home will make a big difference.”
