Osimhen open to Napoli extension despite Premier League interest

Victor Osimhen is reportedly open to contract talks at Napoli despite interest in the forward from Premier League clubs.

Osimhen’s future at Napoli appeared uncertain after a public fallout with the club earlier this season, following the release of a social media video – on the club’s official channels – mocking the Nigeria international for a missed penalty.

Osimhen’s agent threatened legal action against the Italian champions in a bizarre situation, but the relationship between last season’s leading scorer and Napoli appears to have been repaired.

Fichajes are reporting that Osimhen is now open to negotiating a new contract with Napoli, despite interest in the 24-year-old from Premier League clubs.

Chelsea are understood to hold a long-standing interest in signing Osimhen and are in the market for a centre-forward in January, while Liverpool have also been tentatively linked in recent weeks.

Osimhen scored 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli last season as the club were crowned champions in Italy for the first time in 33 years. He hit 26 goals in the league to win the Capocannoniere award as the division’s top scorer, becoming the first African player to win the accolade.
