Jayden Danns ‘in a film’ after scoring first Liverpool goals

Jayden Danns said he feels like he is ‘in a film’ after coming off the bench to score his first Liverpool goals in the club’s 3-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round.

The 18-year-old’s remarkable week continued after he scored twice against the Saints, opening his account for the Reds with a wonderful lifted finish over Joe Lumley.

Danns scored a second after reacting first to a rebound, with the substitute’s brace coming on just his third appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Danns only made his senior debut for Liverpool during last week’s Premier League win over Luton at Anfield, before coming off the bench to feature as the Reds beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

The teenager’s instant impact continued with his goals helping Liverpool book an FA Cup quarter-final at Manchester United, after fellow academy graduate Lewis Koumas had marked his senior debut with the opening goal.

It was another hugely positive night for the Liverpool academy, with eight homegrown stars featuring alongside Danns’ impact, and the forward admitted he was in disbelief at a ‘dream come true’.

“It is a dream come true. I’ve supported the club since birth,” Danns said to ITV Sport.

“To come on and score at the Kop End is amazing, it doesn’t feel true. It feels like I’m in a film. The second one was just pure joy, it didn’t feel like it could come to me, I was happy with one.

“I lost all composure. I don’t know what my dad is going to be doing now because he was in tears when I made my debut.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’m getting right now.”
