Nice set asking price for in-demand defender Todibo

Nice have set an asking price of £40m for in-demand defender Jean-Clair Todibo ahead of the summer transfer window.

Todibo has been tipped to move on from the French side after another impressive campaign in Ligue 1, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea among the clubs said to be courting the centre-back.



 

The 24-year-old has formed part of a Nice defence that boasts the joint-best defensive record in Ligue 1 this season, having conceded just 20 goals from their 26 league fixtures.

He made his debut for France in September and is pushing for a place in Les Bleus’ squad for this summer’s European Championship, having ranked second in Ligue 1 for touches this season and led French football for progressive carrying distance.

Manchester United – who are fresh from investment from Nice owners Ineos – are in the market for a central defender amid doubts over the futures of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof and continue to be credited with interest in a potential deal. Spurs also made an approach for Todibo in January before turning their attention to Radu Dragusin.



 

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Nice value their vice-captain at £40m and Todibo will be one to watch when the transfer window opens. A number of leading clubs across Europe are eyeing defensive reinforcements and he features prominently on several shortlists.
