Guardiola says Haaland back to business after four-goal showing against Wolves

Pep Guardiola said Erling Haaland is ‘back to business’ after the Manchester City scored four goals in the club’s 5-1 thrashing of Wolves.

City reduced the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal to one point, having played a game less, with a comfortable win at the Etihad that saw Haaland star with a ruthless destruction of the visitors.

The Norwegian moved clear in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot with four goals, scoring a hat-trick against Wolves at the Etihad for the second straight season.

He netted two penalties and a magnificent leaping header to score a first-half hat-trick, before squashing any hopes of a Wolves comeback with a fantastic fourth, after Hwang Hee-chan had pulled a goal back.

Haaland has now hit 25 league goals for the campaign and Guardiola said City’s leading scorer is back to business.

“It looks comfortable but it was not. In the end we created more chances but in the transition we were not precise in the last pass. But Erling [Haaland] is back to business,” Guardiola said to Sky Sports.

“Penalties are a guarantee but the second and fourth [goals] were unbelievable.

“They are a really, really good team but we made calls in the right moment, especially with the fourth because at 3-1 anything can happen.

“The 20 minutes he [Haaland] played against Nottingham Forest was really good and today as well. We won, but it was so long an injury. It is welcome he arrived in the right moment. But we arrive together because Erling and Kevin [De Bruyne] have been out, but Phil [Foden] and Julian [Alvarez] have played so well.”
