Bayern Munich are considering an approach to sign David de Gea on a free transfer as the club look to sign a new goalkeeper.
De Gea is a free agent after leaving Manchester United when his contract expired on July 1 and is weighing up his next move after 12 years in the Premier League.
The Spaniard had been expected to sign a new deal with the Red Devils, but the club’s push to agree an extension on significantly reduced terms led to De Gea’s departure from Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Bayern Munich are eyeing a potential move for the 32-year-old as the Bundesliga champions look to provide competition and cover for Manuel Neuer.
The Bavarians are understood to have ‘made contact’ with De Gea’s camp and the goalkeeper is on the club’s shortlist of options alongside Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou.
Bayern saw a loan offer for Brentford’s David Raya rejected last week and a deal for the 27-year-old is now off as the Germans look to replace Yann Sommer, who has been linked with Inter Milan.
De Gea is also understood to have received ‘two important bids’ from Saudi Pro League sides and talks over the goalkeeper’s future are ongoing.
