Pochettino says new Chelsea signings are ‘feeling something special’

Mauricio Pochettino has praised the recruitment team at Chelsea and believes the club’s new arrivals are ‘feeling something special’ at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have made eight signings this summer and this week completed big-money deals to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo and Southampton teenager Romeo Lavia.

Pochettino is delighted with the new additions to his squad and congratulated the Chelsea board on their work this summer.

“The club worked really really hard about that,” Pochettino told his pre-match press conference, ahead of Chelsea’s trip to West Ham.

“I have to congratulate the owners and the sporting directors Laurence (Stewart) and Paul (Winstanley) because the deal (Caicedo) was amazing.

“To add these type of players like Moises or Romeo (Lavia) and all the players singing, I think it was fantastic work from the club and I think we need to congratulate the job they are doing.”

Caicedo and Lavia each turned down interest from Liverpool in favour of signing for Chelsea and Pochettino believes the recruits can feel something is building in west London.

“That is about the player’s decision. It is their decision if they come here. It wasn’t a competition, it was a player’s decision to join us. That makes us very happy and they talk very highly about our owners and our sporting directors in the way that they work.

“The players wanted to come here because I think they are feeling something special. I hope they are feeling something special.”
